Haines Dance Break

Dear Friends & Family,
I DID IT!!! I DID IT!!! Haines dance break happened!!! But first, the rest of the month (This is what we in the bis call a tease). We made Lefse with Charolette and Dave Olerud. She brought me a piece of her lefse after I brought her a piece that we made. She said, “It’s good” but there was a ??? When she brought me a piece of hers, I almost cried. I thought I didn’t really like lefse anymore but this was earth-shattering. It reminded me of the lefse I had as a child. So I told her that she needed to teach me how she made it. We went to her house and made lefse. Her son, the former mayor of Haines, came in and went straight to the lefse and said it was too thick and not round enough…then we got introduced. I was like, SRSLY, you dissed my lefse before you even met me???? By the time he left (couldn’t be soon enough-LOL) he said I was getting better???? Apparently, their children are very competitive about lefse!
We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a corned beef and cabbage dinner!
We had Stephanie and Scott Pattison, (Stephanie is Linda Hentges niece) over for dinner. They came at 6pm and stayed until 11pm…OBVIOUSLY, we had a great time!
Easter was Lovely, We went to the Presbyterian church with the Russell’s. I gave Seeley a little stuffed bunny which she immediately started kissing and hugging (Glamma LOVE). I got to take her down the aisle to children’s time. They handed out little chocolate bunnies. Seeley grabbed them and held them in her hand and when we got back to our seats, they were totally melted. We cleaned her up as best we could. Two o’clock brought us to the school with a huge egg hunt. Thank goodness they divided the areas by age. The 0-3yr old were in this hallway, the 3-7 were in another area and the rest were in the gym. ALL the kids in Haines were there because if you didn’t take your kid, they would find out in school on Monday that all the rest of the kids got candy and prizes. Afterward, they served hot dogs, chips, and lemonade-All FREE!!! Donations from the community funded it. We had a lovely Easter dinner at our place. Seeley now gives her bunny water, kisses her, and reads her books about bunnies in her reading Tepee.
Friday March 29th was the first official HAINES DANCE BREAK!!! People met on Main Street and danced to a pretty bad song that the KHNS chose to play but Lex from the Chilkat Valley News was there and took pictures (of my backside, which I don’t think is my best side???) might be? He wrote an article in the paper. So we are trying to make it work but this week the radio station played, “You’re So Vain” by Carly Simon…a great dance song…I think NOT!!! Anyone who disagrees please plead your case, great song…NOT a dance song! We might have to go rogue…stay tuned!
Kiss, Kiss,

Stephanie

  1. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time up there. ???? Love and miss you both. Shouldn’t you be a grandma and grandpa soon? Sounds like my grandson will be making his entrance to the world any day.
