The Messiah was great, and Santa Baby was SO MUCH FUN!!! The soundtrack skipped and we recovered like the semi-professionals that we are!

We were invited to a party at the distillery, but it was SO SLIPPERY that we chose not to go. The next night was Christmas Eve and we had invited the Russell’s and McPhetres over for hors d’oeuvres before church. Guess what??? I sang to Santa to “Hurry down my chimney tonight” in Santa Baby and he showed up!!! Santa came and had presents for all of us. Seeley started screaming and crying but when she saw him, but when he gave out presents and Glamma sitting on Santa’s lap, she warmed up enough to get her present. We had outstanding hors d’oeuvres and then went to the Presbyterian Church for the candlelight service.
Christmas morning, we went to the Russell’s to see what Santa had brought to us and have a wonderful breakfast. The kids were invited to some friend’s house for dinner, so we had a nice dinner of Grandma B’s Love Chicken (the same dish we served at our wedding). We made several calls to the lower 48 to friends and family. It was lovely!
We had a quick trip to Juneau the week in-between Christmas and New Year’s for some doctoring and to stock up at Costco. New Year’s Eve we expected a quiet evening until our neighbors started shooting off fireworks. We of course went outside to watch and saw their grand kids trying to make snow angels. I thought they needed to be taught how to do a proper snow angel and when I went to go down the stairs, there was ice right on the top of the deck which I couldn’t see because it was dark, so yes, I bit it!!! NICE BRUISE!!! JUST SAYIN’. New Year’s Day, we had the Russell’s over for homemade Chinese food…Chinese New Year!!!
2024 has been a little colder-which makes us happy…30 is just too warm for winter and the snow doesn’t stay. We’ve had a bunch of snow and there was a slide that blocked the highway at the 15th mile. The border was closed for days because they had over 30′ of snow and it took a while to cut a path through the monstrous pile of snow. We will include pics.
Our friends Jamie and Vance have returned from the lower 48 and we are excited to see them. My work is going well, and you can now call me a certified nutritionist! I had to take an intensive online course. I can now do “point of care” which means I can prick your finger and get your glucose reading, your cholesterol and your hemoglobin H1C. That way patients don’t have to come to the clinic twice, once to get their labs drawn and then to have a health coaching session, we can do it all at once. I was pretty freaked out about pricking someone else’s finger but, once I did it, I was OK!
I think the next post will be about what I love about Haines and what I don’t love so much!
Stay tuned…..

Cute pictures of the holidays. Wish we had some of that snow!!! Ours will be gone by the end of the week. Miss you, love to all
