WORK! WORK! WORK!

Hello Friends & Family,

This week I started my position as a Health Educator for South East Alaska Health Consortium or SEARHC (pronounced search). the first few days were SUPER boring orientation on the computer. Thursday my supervisor, Pam, started explaining what I am actually going to be doing so that was fun. I am learning Motivated Interviewing and am taking a class to certify me as a nutritionist. I’ve haven’t taken timed tests for a while. I think I’m gloing to enjoy it, the people are great!!!

Side note: The administrator of the clinic is Stephanie Pattison, Linda Hentges’ niece!!!! “It’s a small world after all”

Monday we got our freezer and some round coffee & end tables (so Seeley won’t crack her head open on the corner of a coffee table!)

I spent EVERY evening trying to get everything unpacked and put away. It’s a BIG job for 1 person. Steve is still non-weight bearing & we don’t have enough storage so I have to be VERY creative! I have the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen (mostly) & living room done. I just need to tackle the guest room (catch all room) & the foyer/office.

Thursday night we were invited to “cocktails on the lawn”. Our landlord invited a bunch of people & everyyone brings appetizers & something to drink. They set up tables and chairs. It was 79 degrees and sunny so it was lovely. We had to leave early because I had to get fingerprinted at the police station for my job.

Friday night was burger night at the legion-again- and we babysat!!!

Satruday I went to a rummage sale at the fair grounds with Coty and Seeley. We found a William Sonoma spritz press for $4!!! SCORE!!! Then we went to the park by the preschool because they were having a celebration of 20 years since they got the play ground. They had face painting, bubbles, cupcakes, fresh fruit etc. It was fun and then home and back to work unpacking.

Met the Russell’s for brunch on Sunday at the Old Country Kitchen which is just down the hill from our duplex. We had a rice bowl with egg, crispy kale, bacon and sriracha. YUM! But $22 for one rice bowl (we shared) and 1 cup of coffee. UFFDA!!! It is VERY expensive to eat out here on the other hand, we filled up the car with gas in Juneau, and the needle has barely moved this week.

Kiss, Kiss,

Stephanie
