Back on the Ferry to Juneau

Back on the Ferry!

Monday and Tuesday were pretty calm. Steve was working and I was running around picking up packages, mail, groceries, returning the shower chair and skimpy scooter, doing laundry in the creepy basement, helping Dacotah with Seeley, and walking Lego. Wednesday our shipment came, and we had to have Vance, Jamie, and Travis go and get the crates and bring them to the house on a trailer. Then they tore them open and proceeded to carry box after box in the apt. Steve had to work in the bedroom because it was too noisy, and he was on calls. By 10:30am we had unloaded 2 ½ crates which Jamie and Vance took to their place and burned (they live outside of the city limits so they can do that) I opened as many boxes as I could and tried to put some things away, but we had to leave at 2pm to check in for the 4:15pm ferry. We arrive in Juneau at 8:45pm and go back the lovely Travel Lodge for a few nights.

Steve had an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday and got his cast taken off. He now has a removable boot that he can take off for sleeping and showering. He is still non-weight bearing for 4 more weeks! I am attaching pictures of his lovely leg-LOL

I decided to take advantage of our time in Haines and got a mani-pedi and a massage in a salt cellar! It was wonderful!!! I felt so good afterwards. When I came out of the nail salon, someone had parked wrong, and I couldn’t back out. I went back into the nail salon and asked if it was anyone’s car, but they said, “no” and I should try the store next to them. What they didn’t tell me was it was an “Adult Book Store”! I didn’t have time to shop as I had to get back to the hotel, but sure enough I found the owner and they came out and moved their car for me for me. . We also had a bucket (3lbs) of crab for lunch on Saturday at Tracy’s Crab shack-YUM!!! We even went to a movie, The Book Club, The Next Chapter, which was entertaining, but the popcorn was even better! For those of you that aren’t aware, I am a popcorn connoisseur.

While in Juneau, Steve went to a restaurant attached to the hotel. Shortly after being seated, a young man staggered towards him asking “Dude, do you have a light?”. Steve said no. Then “dude, do you have a bong? Once again, the answer was negative. Then the guy said “wow, my skin is tingling all over, and it feels great!”. Steve mentioned to the waitress that this guy is obviously intoxicated. She said, “that’s nothing…he came in earlier and asked if we drug test new employees and when she said no, he replied “awesome, can I have an application then?” HAHAHA!

The ferry was booked for Friday and there wasn’t one on Saturday so we had to wait until Mother’s day to come home on the ferry. We got home around 11:30am (5am call time for the ferry) and went right to The Bakery for Mother’s Day brunch with The Russell’s and the McPheters (Dacotah & Travis’ friends and neighbors). They have a breakfast, mexican and thai, not to mention an actual bakery! Then we went back to the apt and I emptied the car which was loaded to the max! put all the groceries away and then proceeded to put our shipment away. It’s a disaster and I’m the only who can do it! Bless them, D & T opened the wardrobe boxes and hung up the clothes-broke the closet rod, AGAIN!!!! Travis was having a lot of fun teasing my about bringing too many clothes but once Sam reiforced the closet, it holds everytthing!!! Dacotah asked my why I brought kittten heels to Haines??? Well, I might need them at some time or if I go on a vacay somewhere??? HELLO??? I’m not going Alaska Casual…It’s just not me and I need to be true to me! right????

Kiss, Kiss,

Stephanie
